EMBRYOCIDES

The success rate of fertilization in livestock and companion animals is relatively high, reaching about 90%. However, not every fertilization leads to pregnancy and childbirth. Embryonic losses reach about 15% to 30%, while the riskiest period appears to be the period of preimplantation development, i.e. the first 5 to 7 days after fertilization. The declining ability of embryos created after successful fertilization to survive the first days of development poses a serious problem in animal husbandry. However, good pre-, and post-concept animal nutrition and health management can significantly reduce emerging economic losses.

Many factors contribute to the causes of early embryonic loss. This site aims to expand the information on the harmful effects of various types of pesticides, especially insecticides (insecticides), which we obtained in our experimental work and published in scientific journals.

Most insecticide manufacturers state that their products have a higher affinity for invertebrate cells than for vertebrate cells, i.e., that they pose a minimal health hazard to mammals. However, many toxicological studies have shown that several mammalian organ systems, including germ cells, are sensitive.

Based on our results, we can conclude that insecticides are one of the most important environmental factors with the potential to directly induce embryonic losses in cattle, wildlife, and companion animals. These species often come into contact with them either in the form of high single doses (veterinary prevention and parasitic therapy) or long-term low doses (consumption of cereals, vegetables, and fruit contaminated with insecticide residues).

We believe that sharing the information we obtain will contribute to the more prudent use of insecticides in economic practice.
